2003 Euro League - Round 5 : Munich retain Escador Cup
Sat 09th August 2003

The Muenchen Colmcilles won the 5th round of the European League when they beat GFC Luxembourg in what was one of the most exciting finals on the European circuit so far. A game which could have seen either team victorious, both Luxembourg and Munich gave a fine display of football. Very few if any tactical mistakes were made, both teams held their shape throughout, and man-marking was the order of the day. Under clear blues skies and 30 + degrees Celcius conditions, the spectators were treated with some fine scoring from both sides, including a Luxembourg goal launched from a sideline kick. Luxembourg sucessfully held the lead for most of the game, but 2 late goals from impact sub Pat Collins put the 'cilles back in the lead which they held until the final whistle. A big thankyou to all the teams who took part, including Barcalona Gaels who drove for 14 hours to compete, the Irish Ambassador to Germany, His Excellency Sean Ò Huigínn, for his support and last but not least the München Colmcilles Committee and volenteers who helped to make the day such a success.
